Thanksgiving is here...
...and we're so full of thanks. Six months since launch, we never could have predicted the profound enjoyment we would feel from interacting with all the wonderful clients, friends, designers, architects, artists, makers, and business partners we've met along the way. Building a business, this business, in this community, with "local roots and global branches" as the fine folks at SCAD would say, is the best decision we've ever made.
One particularly fond memory we're thankful for is the first Womb Chair we sold this summer to a delightful couple in Durham. Married for more than 50 years, they used to import furniture directly from Copenhagen in the 1960s via an old tobacco trading route. They spoke with pride about their furniture that had stood the test of time, including an original Hans Wegner Credenza with roller shutter doors. The Womb they selected, adorned in the most beautiful upholstery called Worth Mist by Proenza Schouler for KnollLuxe Textiles, was a birthday gift from the husband to his lovely wife. We are so privileged to have met and befriended them.
Since then, we've had many more reasons to be thankful as our business has grown. We've recently added some great new products and beautiful artwork in our studio. Here's what's new, and what's in store:
Original Art by Peter Butler
A lifelong competitive swimmer who swam for UNC in the 1970s, artist Peter Butler believes water to be a perfect world. We are thrilled to show his vibrant oil paintings this winter, and look forward to hosting a meet-the-artist and celebrate-the-holidays wine and cheese event for Peter on Thursday December 18th from 5pm to 7pm. Please SAVE the DATE and join us!
New from Knoll
David Adjaye's gorgeous Washington Skeleton Chair in Copper is here! It's like jewelry for your room. The copper is designed to patina over time, so no two chairs in the copper finish are ever exactly alike. From $686 in powdercoat finishes, to $1,387 in copper or nickel. We also have David Adjaye's Washington Skin Nylon Chair in white, beautifully patterned on the back and cantilevered, great for indoor or outdoor use from $486. Last but certainly not least, is Charles Pollock's 1960 sling chair, re-launched from Knoll's design archives. Extremely comfortable, our chair features a cinnamon colored cowhide belting leather sling with a black portofino leather seat cushion, black enamel arms and chromed tubular steel legs.
We're proud to feature this unique modern lighting line from Spain, hand crafted in a patented wood veneer. Equally at home in residential and contract settings, the lighting has both sculptural modern and classical elements to suit a variety of interiors. Featured right is Ray Power's Link SG Pendant in Ivory, a cloud of light.
