Founded in 1908 by master cabinet maker Carl Hansen, Carl Hansen & Son today reflects over 100 years of furniture history with respect and passion for craftsmanship. One of the few female architects of her generation to work at the highest level across many design disciplines, Bodil Kjaer has always worked to create harmony between design, architecture, and human beings.

Born in 1932, Kjaer grew up in Jutland Denmark, and later traveled the world, studying, living, working and teaching in London, New York, and Washington, DC. She studied in Copenhagen at the School for Interior Architecture, and then the Royal College of Art in London. Building her career, Kjaer worked alongside design luminaries like Arne Jacobsen and Paul McCobb, using a problem-solving approach to develop solutions to functional, aesthetic, and economic challenges through elements of architecture and design.
